Monday wasn't a banner performance for Nathan Peterson, but Hardcore Baseball still managed to pull out a 7-5 victory over North Texas Longhorns - Gillespie in seven innings at Jet Blue Player Development Complex, Field four.
Peterson gave up five in 1 2/3, but the bullpen surrendered no runs and the offense banged out 10 to pick up the slack and secure the win for Hardcore Baseball.
North Texas Longhorns - Gillespie had the lead early, but couldn't hold off Hardcore Baseball. North Texas Longhorns - Gillespie was up until the fifth inning, but Hardcore Baseball had other plans for the final outcome, taking the lead back on a sacrifice fly by Si Grinstead.
It was a good day at the plate for Hardcore Baseball's Jimmy Nealy. Nealy went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He tripled in the third inning and singled in the first and fifth innings.
North Texas Longhorns - Gillespie's lineup had no answer for Zach Jackson. Jackson held North Texas Longhorns - Gillespie hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out none.
Julien Ly lasted just one inning on the hill for North Texas Longhorns - Gillespie before being pulled. Ly allowed four hits and one run.
Hardcore Baseball jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. William Walter singled to ignite Hardcore Baseball's offense. A single by Nealy then moved Walter from first to second. Jackson singled, plating Walter.
Hardcore Baseball tallied two runs in each of the third, fourth and fifth. In the third, Hardcore Baseball scored on an RBI triple by Nealy, scoring Walter.
The game's last lead went to Hardcore Baseball thanks to a fifth inning rally that saw two runs cross the plate on a sacrifice fly by Grinstead and an RBI single by Bryce Hutchinson.
